Do players play in the Spring Rec Season AND Dixon Destroyers Select?
Players do have to play in the recreation spring season in order to be eligible for Dixon Destroyers Select.

Why are you having players play both Rec & Dixon Destroyers Select?
In response to feedback received, we have restructured our Dixon Destroyers Select program to offer players the opportunity to engage in a more competitive level of play while retaining access to the benefits and supports provided in the recreational league program. This new format will support players looking to advance their skills while maintaining a connection to the league as a part of our ongoing commitment to player development.

Won't it be too much?
The Select season goes from December through July. 8 Months!! The recreation season is only 12 weeks. During the recreational season, the players will be committed to their rec teams and play 1-2 tournaments a month with Select. Practices for Select are limited during this time in order for players not to get burnt out.

What is the benefit to playing Rec also?
There are so many benefits to have the Select kids be spread out on different rec teams.
1. They get to play primary positions. Maybe they are the 3rd or 4th pitcher on Select and won't see much circle time. But they get to get a lot of innings on their rec team. Same thing with catcher, shortstop or any other position they might play.
2. They get to play with their friends. Maybe their friends or kids from their school are not quite ready for the Select team. But they get to play on a team with some of their other friends.
3. They get to be leaders. The Select players will be spread out on different teams and so will be able to elevate the level of play on their given team.
4. They get to play friendly competition with teammates. How fun is it to show up to a game and get to play against your Select teammate. Friendly rivalries are the best!
5. They get to remain a part of the Dixon Girls Softball community. Opening ceremonies, mid-season tournaments, parades, and more!
