Equipment

Players are required to supply the following:

  • Mitts - Choice of mitt styles are personal preferences. Players may choose specialized gloves as they mature in the catcher and first base positions. 
  • Proper shoes for their division
  • Appropriate attire for practices
  • Water bottle. For player safety, please make sure that the players have water at all practices and games.
  • Softball pants (color determined by coaches) for games

League will supply the following at practice and games:

  • One Jersey per season
  • Helmets
  • Bats
  • Balls
  • Catchers gear

Optional equipment and accessories:

  • While helmets, bats and balls are supplied by the league, players may also use their own equipment as long as they satisfy league requirements specified by division below.
  • Batting gloves, equipment bags, sliding shorts, undershirts, headbands, etc. are all personal preferences.
  • Jewelry is never permitted.  For player safety, players will not be allowed to play until jewerly is removed.

Divison Rules


Age requirement: Determination of the proper division for a player is based on the player's age.

Special consideration to play up into another division may be granted on an individual basis.  If you would like to have your child considered for an age group variance please contact the DGS President.

6UPlayers must be 4-6year old No scorekeeping; all players will be placed in the batting order for the entire game. 3 out rule per inning Players have the option of hitting off the tee or have 3 live coach pitches. Then use the tee after 3 pitches.
8UPlayers must be between 7-8 years old Scorekeeping, no stealing, no walks Batters are pitched to by the defensive team’s pitcher. Offensive team coach pitches to the batter after the defensive pitcher has pitched 4 balls, and the offensive coach pitches the remaining number of strikes in the count to the batter. All coach pitches are strikes.
10UPlayer must be between 9-10 years old Stealing, bunting, sliding is allowed You must slide into home if there is a possibility of a play at home. No pitcher shall be allowed to pitch more than 7 innings in any 2 consecutive games starting with the odd numbered games.
12UPlayers must be between 11-12 years old Lead offs and stealing are allowed (including home)
14UPlayers must be between 13-14 years old
